ALTAI

ASCENT TO THE HIGHEST SIBERIAN PEAK – Mt. BELUKHA (4506 m), 16 days

 

Expedition Itinerary:

Day 1 Meeting and seeing at the airport in Novosibirsk. Drive to Altai (550 km). Accommodation in a small hotel. Russian banya (sauna) in the evening.
Day 2 Meeting the guides and the whole team. Preparing and checking the equipment. (a possibility to go on a small rafting trip).
Day 3 Drive to Gorno-Altaisk - administrative center of the Altai Republic. Registration of visas on the territory of the republic. Then going to Tungur along beautiful mountain road across three passes.
Day 4 – Day 5 Going up mountain paths with the caravan of horses to the lake Ak-Kemskoe.
Day 6 Continuation of the ascent from a stunning Altai lake up to the place called "Tomskie nochevki" ("Tomsk overnights"). Grandiose walls of Belukha in front of us. No horses anymore, only people continue the ascent.
Day 7 This day we'll spend at "Tomskie nochevki" - training on ice and snow that will be helpful later. The altitude on the spot is 3000 m above sea level. Overnight in huts.
Day 8 Walk to the saddle Bereljskoe (approximately 3500 m high).
Day 9 Summit day.
Day 10 Reserve day in case of bad weather conditions.
Day 11 Descent to the lake Ak-Kemskoe. Mountain banya.
Day 12 – Day 13 Two-days descent to the village Tungur.
Day 14 Drive back to Anos. Russian banya in the evening.
Day 15 Drive from Anos to Novosibirsk. Buying souvenirs and visit to the museum in Gorno-Altaisk on the way.
Day 16 Novosibirsk sightseeing tour. Transfer to the airport. Flight home.

Individual tour: You can choose the convenient dates and we will organize the program for you.

 

It is included:

Not included:

  • air ticket “Moscow –Novosibirsk – Moscow”;
  • SNGL accommodation;
  • all personal climbing equipment gear;
  • any expenses due to early arrival or late departure (out of dates fixed by program);
  • accident and rescue insurance;
  • cash for extra expenses;
  • excess baggage fees and departure taxes.

 

We organize this tour every year. Long-term observations revealed that during that period of time, the weather in this region is the most stable. The likelihood of the landslides and avalanches is minimal. Although, the dates may be discussed, if there are more than one of you to come. Participants have to have good winter alpine equipment and clothing.

Temperature may change from +25oC to -20oC at night at the altitude of 3500m above sea level. The most important are the good boots and crampons, good sleeping bag (-20oC)
